Understanding men....

Ok, I am no advice columnist, neither a psychologist nor specialized in any way in men’s psychology. I am just another woman who has her opinions.

They say, men and women always end up on the opposite ends. Women complain about how insensitive and “gross” men are and men whine about the cry-babies women can turn into.
Granted, there are differences but we have to learn to live with them, right?

Lets start with relationships. Men are committed. Period. If he is committed to you once probably he will remain committed to you for the rest of his life. But the problem is that you don’t really know when he is really committed. Sometimes women ‘think’ men are serious about the relationship but they are not and then they ‘cheat’ on the women.

Another thing women need to understand and tolerate is that men are big kids (Come on guys, accept it!). Deep down, all men are big ol' boys. (This explains why so many grown men wear baseball caps.) Their interests are boy-like, too. Take his obsession with sports. Most men love anything that involves kicking something, throwing things or punching other men. Sounds like 10-year-olds on the playground to you? Does to me. When you put three or more men together, they bond by yelling at the TV and being idiots to each other. Regressing into childlike behavior isn't just a means of amusing themselves — it's their way of escaping real-life pressures and feeling accepted as they are. There's no point in denying guys time to release their juvenile side. And hey, at least they're doing it during boys' night out and not in front of your friends or family!

Another thing I have learnt from my day to day life is that men don’t take hints. Whether its your friend, husband, boyfriend or brother, they just don’t. I think it is because when men are with other men, they don't tiptoe around each other and drop subtle suggestions. That's because hints don't register with guys. Women pride themselves on being able to know intuitively what their friends, husbands and kids are thinking, but men have no interest in reading minds. That's I've learned from men: "If you don't ask, you don't get." In relationships, I don't expect a guy to know exactly what I want — and whenever I do, I'm disappointed. If, for example, you want him to take you out for your birthday, you're wasting your time dropping hints like "Guess what day Friday is? It's someone's birthday!" If you do that, you'll be 80 before he takes you out. And while you're at it, don't hint about wanting a gift that's shiny and lasts forever: To him, you've just described a set of pots and pans.
But, if you do ask, chances are you will get it. Be it an expensive ring or a loving kiss, don’t hesitate to ask them for it.

Coming down to a more domestic level, women should all know that men don’t do their laundry until they are out of clean clothes. If this happens before then that means someone else is doing their laundry for them. Sometimes, their dirty laundry even comes in several categories: Looks fine/smells fine, Looks fine/smells bad, Looks dirty/smells fine. Unless you intend to wash it, do not try to disrupt piles organized in this manner.

A couple more things to keep in mind:

Don’t make him hold your purse in the mall. It does something to their manhood. Just spare him the misery.

Shopping is not fascinating. Ever.

If he has to sit through “Notting Hill”, you have to sit through “Showgirls”.

If you truly want honesty, don’t ask questions you don’t really want the answer to.

He was not looking at that other girl. Well, okay… maybe a little. Okay, so what! He was looking at her. Big deal. Like you never looked at another guy…

Any sort of injury involving the testicles is not funny. Seriously.

Any attempt by a man to prepare food, no matter how feeble (ie: Microwaving etc) should be met with roughly the same degree of praise a parent might shower upon their infant when it walks for the first time.

But in the end, remember that men are human. We all are. We are unique and we have our own individuality. You will not go anywhere in understanding someone if you keep on putting them in one stereotypical category or another.

Good luck Ladies! :-)

Weird ads

What's with these ads implying that the only reason women don't show skin is that they aren't hairless enough? :O :-/

First there was Katrina Kaif in a Veet ad, apparently feeling 'confident' about tearing off her dress sleeves before walking on the ramp only because she had remembered to use Veet to get hair off her arms.

Worse, there's Kareena Kapoor for Anne French who reveals her shoulders and arms while other women pull at their sleeves and scarves: "Twacha ho khoobsurat, toh darr kaisa?" ("Why be afraid when you have beautiful skin?" or something to that effect.)

I suppose the reason she doesn't walk about naked is that she has a hairy torso, and Anne French only works on arms and legs? :O

And did anyone catch that one where a tennis player wears long pants and long-sleeved tops because her arms and legs aren't pretty enough? And she's told she has to wear a tennis dress for the actual match because, don't you know, it's not about how you play, it's about how much (hairless and pale) skin you show? *rolling my eyes*

And of course she wins the match, because hallelujah! her skin is pretty and she can wear a dress now! *roll eyes again*

While writing this I just saw the ad on the TV again,, and it's for some Vaseline body lotion. Apparently, the reason she didn't show her limbs was because they weren't the same colour as her face! So Vaseline comes to the rescue and ensures her legs are as white as her face. Now, I not only wonder why she doesn't use Vaseline all over her body, I also wonder how Vaseline knows exactly what colour all of our faces are! :-/ Does it magically take on the colour of the face of whoever uses it? Or can only women whose faces are a certain shade of white use it? :P

Things we women hate about men...

I read this somewhere on the net and I gotta share it with you all.
Oh yes, we need them and they need us – but then, there are moments when the love and dependency takes a 360 degree turn. Heres a rant session anda rag session over how ‘impossible’ they are! From being the man of the house to the baby of the house, a quick run on the things that we hate about men.

• Ask you out, start a relationship with you, then ponder to their guy friends, "I'm not sure if she is my type!”
• Think that there is something wrong about gay men, but lesbians they totally support
• Male chauvinism! We fail to understand why men can stop and ask for direction till its 50 odd kms into the wrong direction?! It’s always been a mystery why they will not stop and ask for directions!
• Tells everyone that you are smothering them and that they are annoyed that you are always around. But the very second you get off work or are out with your friends for a change, your cell phone starts ringing off the hook and he's saying , "When are coming over. I miss you. I love you. Come back!”
• Temporary amnesia! They remember the names of football and cricketers from some odd country, their scores, their entire career track – but cannot for the life them remember birthdays, anniversaries and buying gifts. What kind selective memory is that?
• Oh, they nod their head with aplomb when the topic veers towards gender equality! They are all for it! But, when it comes to pitching in with household chores – suddenly, gender equality is an alien lingo!
• They categorize women into two types – a cool type and a marriageable type. They love to hang around with the hip and happening babes, but when it comes to tying the knot, it’s a virgin bride all the way through! As the saying rightly goes, “You can go to a restaurant and look at the menu card, but its home- cooked meal that completes you”. And our men, seem to follow that saying to the T.
• An absolute control over the remote control! There has to be some kind of deep seated relation to this, but it’s yet to be unearthed.
• Strutting around like a peacock! Ugggh…that’s a no – no! Agreed that they are handy when it comes to fixing a loose wire or tightening the nuts and bolts, but constantly stroking their feathers on that count weighs us down.
• Not that there is anything wrong with looking – (we also like to look!), but someone ought to teach the boys the fine art of looking! There is a very fine line between ogling and looking. And somehow, our boys think its all one and the same!

Hahahahahahahahahahaha
I would love to get the guys as well as gals take on this...looking forward and dying to read your comments :D

If I was the PM

I was just reminded of the times when we were young and had to write those essays on "If I were the Prime Minister of India", or something to that effect. I don't know if they still have those kind of homework exercises, but if they did, this would be one of the apt answers:

If I were the Prime Minister of India right now, I'd be really confused and flipping a coin to decide what I should concentrate on.

Whether the alarming terror situation in the country with recent flurry of blasts in the cities,
Or, the alarming external security situation, with Pakistan and Nepal growing more volatile by the day.
Or, do something for the 18 Indians out of 22 hostages held by pirates.
Or, the global economic meltdown and focus on minimizing its loss to India, its stock market, its industry and its banks.
Or, controlling the surging inflation in the country.
Or, about the grave floods in Bihar affecting over a 2.5 million people.
Or, in Gujarat and Orissa.
Or, the farmers in Vidarbha.
Or, the drought-like situation in many states where water-sharing is an issue.
Or, work for restoring peace and harmony in Jammu and Kashmir. Heal a wounded part of the country.
Or, control insurgency and bring back peace in the North-east.
Or, focus on the rising crime rate in metropolitan cities.
Or, act against the heinous communal acts and forced conversions and reconversions in Orissa. Bring back peace between the Hindu and Christian communities.
Or, work to establish a fundamentally strong economy.
Or, work to promote education at the grass-roots of the society by ensuring free primary education, a bill that hasnt been cleared in four yrs because the States dont want to foot the cost.
Or, build more higher education institutes and medical colleges(IITs??)
Or, bring nuclear power to India and setup the required infrastructure so India can meet its energy needs.
Or.......................

Dream job, anyone????

This isn't a critique on anyone's performance, just a sentiment that comes through grabbing the headlines every morning.

Mismatch!!

When I m driving, or traveling…. Or anytime in motion…I guess my thoughts also catch up with me and I come up with quite weird result…

Just came back home, after driving my “spirit” and what I saw or rather to say observed (just to make it clear, I was observing this since many days…. But today I thought it to put it in words…)

“With every good-looking girl there would be a guy on bike who usually looks more of a CHAMPAK to me”. Wish I could take a snap of all those “MATCHED” couple and put it here as a proof.

Yup I agree, exceptions are there, but mostly you will find tagging of this kind. Now another question- How do you know those are couples? C’mon man… a girl who has cuddled him, her head is resting in peace on his shoulder/back, I guess a girl like this can’t be his sister, bhabhi, mother, chachi, mami,………….!!!!

Another observation….

“Good looking guys are ALONE!!!!”

Yup I know the answer to this… they are waiting for me isn’t it? ;)
